As you all know, we are starting a brand new class this year at Notre Dame in the vocational center called "Employability Skills." I am beyond excited to get this started with your students! This class is crucial to the success of our student's careers. Throughout the year we will be learning how to get hired, how NOT to get fired, and everything in between! I have come to think of this class as sort of a "senior seminar" type class, which most college students have to take in their last year of undergraduate studies. We will be learning effective interviewing skills, proper behaviors to portray in the workplace, and various techniques to conquer tricky social situations they may encounter in their careers. I am going to be pushing your student to think more about themselves - including their strengths, weaknesses, skills, and abilities - and how to use all of these things to be as productive as possible in the workplace.
